- Make your cake mix as normal, I made a lemon cake for this. Add some orange or lemon rind to mixture for extra flavour.
- Cut off just the top of the orange and keep lid.
- Gently scoop out insides with a spoon- I use the pulp for fruit salad or eat just as is later on.
- Pour mixture into empty orange, don't fill to the top, leave a couple of Cm's.
- Wrap foil around the orange or place into a muffin tray so it will be held upright.
- Cook for 10-15minutes then check the way you would muffins.
- Once you take your orange cake out of oven, let it sit for 5 mins to cool down a little, but they are best to eat while still warm. The orange flavour comes through and they are beautiful.
The kids think the novelty is great too.
