ORANGE CAKE

  1. Make your cake mix as normal, I made a lemon cake for this. Add some orange or lemon rind to mixture for extra flavour.
  2. Cut off just the top of the orange and keep lid.
  3. Gently scoop out insides with a spoon- I use the pulp for fruit salad or eat just as is later on.
  4. Pour mixture into empty orange, don't fill to the top, leave a couple of Cm's.
  5. Wrap foil around the orange or place into a muffin tray so it will be held upright.
  6. Cook for 10-15minutes then check the way you would muffins.
  7. Once you take your orange cake out of oven, let it sit for 5 mins to cool down a little, but they are best to eat while still warm. The orange flavour comes through and they are beautiful.
The kids think the novelty is great too.
